FRITZ'S POLKA BAND RETURNS TO THE LARGEST FREE FESTIVAL IN THE UNITED STATES FOR THE SIXTH YEAR IN A ROW!Fritz's Polka Band (FPB) from Verona, NY, returns to Musikfest in Bethlehem, PA on Sunday, August 2nd at 2:30pm. However, because of COVID-19, Musikfest is being held virtually this year. Given that, FPB will perform at the Service Electric TV studios in Bethlehem, PA and it will be broadcast live not only in the Service Electric coverage area but also on Musikfest social media.
“The guys in Fritz’s Polka Band look forward to returning to Musikfest for the sixth year in a row,” said Fritz Scherz, band leader of Fritz's Polka Band. “This year will be a big change from prior Musikfest performances of ours, as we won’t get to have a large crowd present to watch us. As with prior Musikfest appearances, we will be mixing up the styles of music we play. I’ve got to give Musikfest credit for finding a way to make the largest free festival happen once again, albeit virtually! I’m glad the promoters like my band’s eclectic musical style and I want to thank them once again for having my band return.”
October 14, 2018 marked the 40th anniversary of Fritz's Polka Band! FPB made history in 1999 by becoming the first polka band to play at a Woodstock Festival. FPB appears on "The Manchurian Candidate" DVD, released in 2004. In 2011, FPB had two songs (‘Grandparent’s Polka’ and ‘Here Is Fritz’s Polka Band’) included in two episodes of the TV show, ‘Breaking Bad’. In November 2018, FPB released their 19threcording, “Hey!” which featured Rocko Dorsey, Ron Keck, and Todd Kerns (from Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators, TOQUE, Age of Electric and more!) as special guests! In winter of 2019, FPB’s recording “Hey!” was nominated for a Syracuse Area Music Award: Best Recording Other Styles. In autumn 2019, FPB was nominated for Band of the Year as well as New, Original Polka Song by the Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame. Additionally, Fritz Scherz was nominated for Musician of the Year and Button-Box: Artist or Duo awards.
