Polka\u00a0Events Calendar<\/strong><\/p>\n

(Q)<\/strong> Can I add my own dances to the Polka Events Calendar?<\/p>\n

(A)<\/strong> Yes. There are two ways to add events to the calendar. The quickest way is to submit an anonymous event via the drop down menu under Polka Events. Near the top of the web site, you will see Polka Events tab. Click on \u201cSubmit Your Event\u201d in the drop down and fill in the information. If you are a bandleader or promoter and would like to have advanced editing capabilities, click the Register tab and create a login. In either case, your event submissions will NOT be visible to the public, until they are approved by the web site administrators.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

(Q)<\/strong> Okay…I got my login information, how do I login to add and edit my events?<\/p>\n

(A)<\/strong>\u00a0Click the Login tab and enter your user name and password. \u00a0While you are logged in, you will see a new toolbar across the top of your screen. \u00a0From there, you can access the areas you have permission to use.<\/p>\n

(Q)<\/strong> Can I import an event into Microsoft Outlook, Google calendar or my smartphone calendar?<\/p>\n

(A)<\/strong> Yes. Click on any event. Find the text, near the top that says \u201cAdd this event to your calendar: iCal\u201d. Click on the iCal link on a PC and it will download a .ics file. If you have Outlook on your computer, you can open the file and it will create an appointment in your Outlook calendar. When using a smartphone, just click iCal and it will import the event into your calendar. You can also import the .ics file into a Google calendar.<\/p>\n

(Q)<\/strong> The event I’m trying to input doesn’t have a location. \u00a0Can I add one?<\/p>\n

(A)<\/strong> Yes. If you begin typing in the location field and nothing matches your event location, you may add it yourself. \u00a0Please note…The location is specifically for the actual place where the event is taking place. \u00a0It is not for the name of your dance or festival. \u00a0The system uses Google to locate the venue on their mapping system and entering a name not related to the location causes errors in the look-up. \u00a0You should look up your venue on Google Maps and copy the correct venue name and address.<\/p>\n

(Q)<\/strong> What if my event doesn’t have a specific location…like a cruise or a tour?<\/p>\n

(A)<\/strong>\u00a0Simply click the box that reads: “This event does not have a physical location.”<\/p>\n

(Q)<\/strong> I entered my event, but it doesn’t appear on the event list. \u00a0What’s going on?<\/p>\n

(A)<\/strong> In order to reduce spamming and unacceptable entries, all events need approval from one of our web site administrators. \u00a0We typically process new event entries within 24 hours. \u00a0We appreciate your understanding and suggest that you enter your events into our schedule months in advance.<\/p>\n

(Q)<\/strong> I wish there was a way to look up a venue and see what dances are coming up in the future.<\/p>\n

(A)<\/strong> There is a way to do this in our system. \u00a0Go to the Polka Events tab and select Locations. \u00a0Find a venue and click on it. \u00a0If there are events in our system for that location, they will be listed.<\/p>\n

(Q)<\/strong>\u00a0I already have a login to the Polka Directory\u00a0area. \u00a0Do I need to create a separate account for the Polka Events page?<\/p>\n

(A)<\/strong>\u00a0No. \u00a0Your login should work for all areas. \u00a0When you create an account for one page, the system automatically creates a login for all pages. \u00a0Contact us at info@polkaconcerts.com, if your login doesn’t work for all pages and we will be sure your account is enabled.<\/p>\n

Adding a Video to a Post or Event<\/strong><\/p>\n

(Q)<\/strong> Can I add videos to a calendar event or a post?<\/p>\n

(A)<\/strong> Videos take up a tremendous amount of hosting space and consume an extraordinary amount of bandwidth and we don’t have the resources to allow uploaded videos.<\/p>\n

If you want to add a video clip to either an event or a post, please embed the code from a YouTube video or embed the code from some other video streaming service. In YouTube, go to the video you’d like to embed. Beneath the video, click the “Share” button and then, click the “Embed” button. Copy the embed code and paste it into the event or post description area (use the “Text” tab, instead of the “Visual” tab).<\/p>\n

Advertising on PolkaConcerts.com<\/strong><\/p>\n

(Q)<\/strong> How can I advertise on PolkaConcerts.com?<\/p>\n

(A)<\/strong> There are a few ways you can advertise on our site. The first way is to create a login and list your business for free in our Polka Directory<\/a>. Secondly, you can create a free ad in our classified ads<\/a> section.<\/p>\n

Additionally, you can participate in our rotating ad in the top right hand column. The cost is $10.00 per month or $100.00 for a year. All you need to do is send us a 250px x 250px, 300px x 300px or 300px x 250px image file and the url of the site where you want visitors to land.
